My senior year semester 1 submission for Material Design & Technology (2018). It consists of a 3-layered internal acrylic mechanism encased in meranti and jarrah timber. The acrylic component was designed in AutoCAD then cut on the schools 100watt CO2 laser cutter.

The process began with a 2D design on AutoCAD using only lines / splines.

Year 12 Material Design & Technology (2018)
My submission, a folding chair constructed from meranti hardwood.

While somewhat novel looking, the chair is neither good at folding nor comfortable to sit on. This can be attributed to 3 factors, namely:

X   excessively high seat,
X   large spacing between back support struts and,
X   front legs not extending sufficiently forward.

So impractical makes for a perfect laundry chair..

Tools utilized include a table saw, table router, bandsaw and belt sander.
