2022 EWB Design Solution
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A Curtin University assessment for the 2022 Engineers without Borders (EWB) Challenge. Competitors were challenged to design a boat for the capture/relocation of crocodiles in Northern Queensland. These apex predators pose an increasing risk to public safety with the expansion of urban and rural developments. Solutions aimed to improve the stealth of the diesel powered water-craft, largely focusing on reducing emission of vibrations.
Design Solution
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The submission consisted of 2 parts. The first section detailing a conceptual design that demonstrates the key features of the solution. My solution (created in Fusion360) aimed to reduce vibration emission by utilizing an electrically propelled motor, and eliminating unnecessary maneuvering via a unique 360-degree capable steering system.
Scale Model Drawings
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The second assessment component - plans for a scale-model of the conceptual design. The intention being for students to construct a peers design solution. (Maximum allowed cost of materials $50 AUD)
